One of the early Ottoman buildings in the centre of Söğüt. It takes its name from Mehmed I, also known as Çelebi Mehmed; that is why its construction is dated to his reign, in the first quarter of the fifteenth century.

The building has been repaired more than once over the centuries, and its present form is not a direct continuation of the original. The restraint of early Ottoman mosques — little ornament, plain massing, function to the fore — can still be read here.

The mosque is open for worship. Visiting outside prayer times is more comfortable both for you and for the congregation.
